Fashion Juice brings you Fashion Dictionary. This will help you understand the various terms used in the Fashion World.

A/W  or F/W - autumn/winter or fall/winter season collection

Brocade - a heavy, exquisite, jacquard-type fabric with an all-over raised pattern or floral design; a heavy textile with a raised design resembling embroidery, generally made of silk, rayon and nylon yarns with or without metallic treatment; often in gold or silver

Bustier - French origin; pronounced as “boos-tyay”; a form-fitting woman’s top, often strapless; corset-like

Kaftan - a woman’s dress style that imitates the caftan cloaks worn by men in the Near East. Caftan is a cloak, in cotton or silk, with full sleeves and sash reaching down to the ankles.

LBD - little black dress

S/S - spring/summer season collection

SA - Sales Associate

Shift Dress - A loosely fitting dress that hangs straight from the shoulder, like a chemise.

Tunic - a blouselike garment extending to the hips or lower, usually knee-length. It is usually gathered at the waist, often with a belt or a belted waist. Can be a simple tubular dress with or without sleeves.
